Well, Spring is Rodeo time here in Texas. We dressed up in our finest western wear and drove to Houston for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo in the beginning of March. Harris had a lot of fun at the petting zoo. The bulls in the livestock show were interesting as well. While Harris napped, we enjoyed checking out the breeding center where we got to see piglets and a calf that had been born that day. I particularly enjoyed seeing the chickens, we even got watch to some hatching chicks. Backyard chickens are my project for next year. Once we got to the actual rodeo, Harris loved seeing the cowboys and cowgirls ride back and forth across the arena. But he was most amazed by the pre-show fireworks.
A couple weeks later, we headed to the Austin Rodeo and dragged along our rodeo-newbie friend, Siobhan. It's of course much smaller than the Houston show, but it allows closer views of the action. Harris got to enjoy his first pony ride and he thought it was pretty cool.
